First lockdown was sudden, almost a surprise. Second lockdown, we knew it was coming. This time we are already adapted to being at home together; there's a routine that works for all us of to do our work or school. Once the stay-at-home order was in effect, it was our responsibility to either be helpful or not with efforts towards the pandemic. So, it seems pretty straight forward, and easy to do what we can to lessen potential hospital strain, not add to the problem, but be a part of the solution, by simply staying at home.

Kids getting along - Emilia painted Liam's nails
Santa Ana winds threw an unexpected power outage that lasted 2+ days. Our camping gear is always easily accessible.
Trusty Jetboil to make coffee in the morning
Campstove and headlamp to cook up some dumplings for dinner
Since we were essentially camping at home, the kids did exactly that. Camping in the living room. Both of them are in the tent reading books.
The highlight of the Santa Ana winds were the winds. Winds were so strong, we had to try kite flying. This is the best kite flying the kids have ever experienced.
Our days are pretty routine - we do our school, our work. Take breaks outside to exercise and play. The whole family still has the climbing motivation and all of us, including kids, are back to climbing regularly in the home gym. It's been fun taking an afternoon break and working on climbs together in the gym. There's 80s music in the gym, and while we take a break from our climbs, we can do silly dances.
Liam and I have been working on endurance climbing and train doing around-the-worlds on the Tension board. Ryan holds the highest count of 5 loops of around-the-world. Liam is targetting to reach Ryan's number.
I'm at a max of 2 loops on a good day. Still slowly building my strength and endurance back up. Consistency is the key.

Virtual Family Get Together for Christmas
So much has happened to people all over the world this year. So many unique stories and challenges, and yet also many similar experiences people have faced during this time. Some have lost greatly, some have benefitted greatly. There has been sacrifice and isolation and chaos. There has also been creativity and alternative ways to virtually connect. 2020 really changed society a lot, directly and indirectly from Covid. Destination future... unknown, but whatever the journey, may we all ride the ebs and flow of the waves and find our way. Wishing you a safe surf into 2021!
