Meet Frank

That is Ryan's current nickname for Liam... Frank. So, meet Frank. He is getting more and more stable every day, and as he does, he crawls less and less. It's exciting to see him progress, but at the same time, I'm going to miss the cuteness of the crawling stage.

Frank

This is one of my favorite stages, the in-between crawling and walking. He loves to walk and stumble right into my arms and squeals with delight. No sooner after that, he turns around to take off on another end-target goal to walk towards, the nearby table or chair or Ryan's leg.

He Walks! Sort of...

Liam is just starting to get the hang of walking. Connie worked with him last weekend, and got him walking several steps. He's probably done about 10 max, but of course, the camera's never around then. This is the best I could capture. He'll probably be sprinting in a few weeks.

Strolling Through The Great Outdoors (Our Backyard)

These vids are a follow-up to my last post as they were shot on the same day.

It's hard to tell in this video, but she's actually walking uphill on uneven ground that's covered with a couple inches of leaves. Not too bad for a one-year old :^)

This is also uphill on the gravel portion of our driveway. For some reason, these little walks always seem to take a long time.

Not sure what she liked so much about the broken up bricks, but it made her day. Too bad that won't work when she's older.

She was carrying this orange for most of the walk. She dropped it, and it started to roll down the driveway. I decided to have a little fun with her, and see if she could retrieve it when I rolled it up the driveway.

How do you get a baby to walk directly towards you? You wave a big branch above your head (secret revealed).

The Next Step...

... in walking is to be able to stand up unassisted, and stroll away...

... and maybe walk with your arms by your sides, oh well ;^)

The Walking Video - Finally!

We've been trying for quite some time now to get a decent video of Emilia walking. But she just hasn't been cooperative. When we're ready with the camera, she refuses to walk. And when she does walk, we're not ready with the camera.

Well, I finally tricked her into posing for the camera today by using the old banana trick. You'll catch a glimpse of the banana lure at the start of the video in the upper left side of the frame. This isn't one of her better walking sequences, but she's still sorting it out as you can see by the abrupt drop-to-butt stop.

And here's one of her impersonating a gorilla. She likes to lug things around with one hand. She was carrying this toy around with two hands and walking around, but I wasn't ready with the camera :^(

She Walks!

Em took her first steps today so I figured it was important to document the momentous occasion. Unfortunately we weren't able to get any video :^( I wasn't really expecting it, but was just planning on having her do a little standing on her own which she's been doing lately. But then she decided to move forward, and I think she even surprised herself and just kept going (about 6 steps) until she confronted a chair. Who knows how far she would've gone otherwise. So, of course, I went scrambling to find the camera, and it was nowhere to be found. But as luck would have it, Connie got off work a little early today, and she had the camera. I first had Em show Connie her new skilz, and we got Em to walk about 3 steps to an elated momma. Ok, now we had to video this action. But Em was done walking for the day, and we just couldn't get her to show off for the camera. Oh well, as she gets better at it, we'll have more opportunities and will surely be posting some walking videos soon!
