Liam and Emilia were independently playing on the deck. Emilia was busy sitting close by to the screen door and in my direct eye sight. She was busy peeling stickers off a sticker book. Liam was on the other side of the deck, short out of eye sight. I could hear his little footsteps running away, and then stopping... and then bursts of giggles, and then footsteps running back. Still short out of eye sight. He kept doing this, back and forth, with bursts of laughter and giggles. What was going on?
Me: "Liam, what are you doing?"
Liam runs back to me with a big smile, and says with delight: "The sun is tickling my eyes!"
He then runs off again, and more bursts of giggles. =)
If we could all see the world and appreciate it through the eyes of a child. Happiness and fun is as simple as feeling the warmth of the sun.
The fun continued with a snack time picnic to enjoy the last rays of the sun today.
When was the last time you stopped to feel the sun on your eyelashes? When was the last time you had a picnic or ate outside? Enjoy the simple things in life. Thanks Liam for the reminder.

Demo
As in Demolition. This is what I've been doing lately...

We're getting ready to extend our deck to make it more usable (the existing small, split decks are practically useless). Underneath the new deck will be a fenced in play area for the kids. We're thinking of using some sort of artificial turf to minimize the maintenance. And the old asphalt around the house will be redone in concrete creating a cleaner, safer surface for the kids (and grown-ups) to play on.
