When the two kiddies are left to their own devises, it's only a matter of time before parental units need to step in.
Cooking dinner is almost always longer than I intend it to be. My cooking time tends to forget to factor in "momma, I need your help with [fill in the blank]!", or refereeing shouting matches "I was playing with that first! No. I WAS!", or when it suddenly turns too quiet, as in where did the children go?. Sure, these stops are short in duration, but when there's 10 different things that come up... it easily doubles the amount of time it takes to get dinner prepped, cooked, and on the table.
Such as tonight. I always aim for easy, one-pot meals if possible. Tonight was a regular saute chopped bok choy with ground bison meat. Simple. And yet, it took me an hour for a dish that would take no more than 15 minutes. This was the main crisis of the evening...cries of help emanating from both kiddies.
"Momma, I can't get out.Help me up."
Then, cries of despair turn into giggles as I give them the eye.
And. There you have it. They are both conspiring against me! Em just chilling in her stuck spot until I get there.
With kids, there is no such thing as a simple task. It's like engineering projects. The general rule of thumb is to multiple how long you think it will take for you to complete the task by PI, and that will be closer to the actual completion time.
